National Caregiver Training Program
Program Class Summary
Being an IHSS Provider requires learning the skills necessary to care for a Consumer as well as being aware of the need to take care of yourself while providing services. The National Caregiver Training Program is a certified training program that will be offered by the Public Authority throughout San Diego County. It has been designed to help Providers learn the skills and knowledge they need to provide safe and confident home care.
The National Caregiver Training course includes DVD instruction, lectures, helpful handouts, demonstrations by the class instructor, and hands-on practice. Class participants will also receive a textbook, Quick Tips for Caregivers, which will be used throughout the course. A Certificate of Completion will be provided to everyone who successfully completes the course.
Upon receiving their certificates, students will be able to keep the textbook as a reward for completing the training program. As an added bonus, students who have completed the program will also receive priority enrollment in the Registry's Application Workshop/Orientation if they are interested in signing up to become a Public Authority Registry Provider.
The training program will be held throughout the year and will take place in various parts of the County. If you are interested in enrolling, please call the Public Authority Registry Department at 1-866-351-7722.
