IHSS Advisory Committee
History
In 1999 Assembly Bill 1682 was passed. Under this legislation an Employer of Record for IHSS providers was required by January 2003, as well as the establishment of an IHSS Advisory Committee to supply recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for implementation of the Employer of Record requirement.
On May 16, 2000, the Board of Supervisors for the County of San Diego voted to create an IHSS Advisory Committee. After months of hard work, the Committee recommended establishing a Public Authority here in San Diego County. The Board of Supervisors on June 12, 2001, created the Public Authority.
Composition of Committee
The IHSS Advisory Committee shall consist of Eleven (11) members. Fifty-one percent must be consumers of personal assistance services (IHSS).
Role of the Advisory Committee
The IHSS Advisory Committee shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing advice and recommendations regarding IHSS to the County Board of Supervisors and to any administrative body in the County responsible for IHSS.
- Serve as Advisory Committee to the Public Authority.
Compensation:
- Private vehicle mileage to/from meetings is reimbursed at the rate of $.365 per mile.
- Stipend of $50 per formal meeting with a maximum of $750 per year for each appointed member.
Meeting Dates:
The IHSS Advisory Committee is currently meeting on the second Friday of each month from 12:45 to 3:30 PM. The current location of these meetings is at the Health Services Complex, 3851 Rosecrans, San Diego Room, San Diego, CA. 92110.
