The Back-Up Provider System (BUPS) provides short-term temporary caregiving services to IHSS/WPCS recipients who have urgent personal care needs that their regular caregiver cannot meet, or if a recipient is being discharged from the hospital or care facility and have been referred by IHSS/WPCS program social workers. BUPS Caregivers are compensated an additional $2.00 an hour.
